What it is?

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, is a diagnostic technique that uses sound waves (ultrasound) to create images of organs, tissues, and structures inside the body.

Urological ultrasounds are essential for early diagnosis and control of urological pathologies, such as infections, kidney stones, blood in the urine, benign prostatic hyperplasia or tumors.

What does it consist of?

During the examination, the specialist moves the transducer over the part of the body to be studied, having previously applied a gel. This transducer sends sound waves (ultrasound) that “bounce” off different organs and tissues, forming the image.

Instructions

Normally it is requested to drink a liter of water one hour before coming, but depending on the study to be carried out, you may not have to do any preparation, or you may have to do more than drink water. At the time of requesting the appointment and indicating the type of study that you have to carry out, they will inform you.
